Haggala
Botanical Garden is built in 1861, the Hakgala Strict
Nature Reserve is located near the Hakgala Malwatta. It is maintained
throughout the year by the Department of Agriculture of Sri Lanka. The
highest point of the Hakgala mountain is 2200 meters
above sea level. From the 28 hectares of the park,
you can clearly see the Madolsima and Namunukula peaks.
Because
of the elevation of about 1750 meters above sea level,
the region has a slightly cooler climate. The annual temperature is
between 16-30c and the annual rainfall is about 2300mm. The park is fed by the rainfall received from
both monsoons. December-February is the coldest part of the year and
April-August is quite warm. The minimum temperature recorded is 3 Celsius.
Cinchona
was first cultivated in this area in 1861 as a
cultivation. After the failure of the whole country, tea cultivation has
commenced. Even today there are several old tea trees in the
park. Developed in 1884 and declared a botanical
garden. Around 500,000 tourists
visit the park annually.
The
Hakgala Botanical Garden is home to over 10,000 species of flora and fauna, giving you a glimpse of some
of the most beautiful landscapes. Flowers, shrubs, trees and buildings are
beautifully designed to attract tourists. The roses in the garden are also
very attractive to tourists. There you will find over 200
species of roses. There are also many floral and fruit plants.
The
best time to visit Hakgala Botanical Gardens is from March to the end of
April. Nuwara Eliya has attracted a large number of tourists due to the
coming of spring. If you are looking for tourist places around Nuwara

it into a dustbin. Enjoy the view, take photos do whatever you want but don’t
pollute the environment. It’s our responsibility to keep our world clean.
Don’t forget to visit this place if you are travelling
